FPC Happenings

First Presbyterian Church- Newton Mission Team of 8 youth and 2 adults traveled to Raleigh, North Carolina the week of June 10-15th to participate in various types of ministries in the area. Raleigh Youth Mission (RYM) coordinated the mission immersion experience for the mission team. This year’s theme was “Living Our Faith”. The mission team was housed at First Presbyterian Church in Raleigh. During the mission trip, youth and adults worked with Passage Home, Clothing Bank, North Raleigh Ministries, Kirk of Kildaire Presbyterian Church Summer Feeding Program, Family Promise, Food Bank, Refugee Community, Rode the R-Line, and the Farm Church of Durham. Here is an inventory of what our mission team accomplished this week with 36 plus participants, plus our 3 interns = 30 total between the 3 churches: First Presbyterian Church Newton, NC; First United Methodist Church Taylorsville, NC; and Westminister by the Sea Presbyterian Church, Daytona Beach Shores, FL. We volunteered 481 Total hours worked by the entire group. $7.25 is the federal minimum wage. The Living Wage (without employer benefits) is $11.73.
