FPC Happenings

Thanks to our Middle & High School Youth for hosting the Easter egg hunt for the children of our church this morning. Thanks to Christian Education Committee for a great breakfast and lesson for the children while we hid 500 stuffed eggs. Also thanks to the youth for helping our children celebrate Palm Sunday by walking into worship with palm branches!

FPC Youth, Parents & Family members,

Sunday, April 8th 3 p.m. The Green Room in Newton

Deadline to sign up for tickets is Wednesday, March 28th to Suzanne.

“Blue” is an extraordinary story that is both heart-warming and historical. The show is actually set in Hickory, NC in 1944. It’s a tale that involves the NC Polio Epidemic, WWII, & a sweet, naive family whose father has gone off to war and leaves them to carry on in a harsh and unprotected environment for which they are ill-equipped. They are a little band made up of a young mother, a 13 yr. old, twin elementary school aged little girls and a pre-school aged boy. The eldest daughter, Ann Fay, is given a set of overalls and instructions by her dad to be the “man of the house” while he’s away…a daunting task for any child.

So much of the simple values and morality of a common way of living in the South are portrayed in “Blue.” The faith that uplifts all of her friends and relatives in Ann Fay’s community are deeply moving. These values and the quiet, simple ways of living still linger in this region of NC, today.

$16 Adults

$14 Students/Seniors (60+)

This has been a busy weekend for FPC Newton Middle & High School youth. Started Friday night at 7:00 p.m. with an All Night Lock-In beginning with preparation for Easter Egg Hunt next Sunday. Then we went to see "The Greatest Showman" which is an amazing movie! Yes, the guys were a little unsure of going to see this movie. Thanks to chaperones Jason & Laura Sparks. Then back to church for fellowship and more movies! Miss Suzanne is getting a little too old for lock-ins.

Saturday night, Addie, Andrew, Jon and Sarah performed at the FPC Newton Talent Show! So proud of them to exhibit the talents God has given them.

Anna Kirby delivered the message entitled " Keeping Our Way Pure" at both 8:45 Early Service & 11:00 worship services. She did a great job.

So proud of Addie Joplin who say with the AWE Band.

4:30 p.m. Youth and adults will prepare Sunday Community Supper tonight for anyone needing a free meal or just wants to eat with others. Serving time is 5:30-5:50 p.m. at FPC Newton Fellowship Hall.

5:30 p.m. Youth will stuff 500 eggs with candy and prizes!

What a weekend it has been!
