FPC Newton Middle School Mission Trip a Success

First Presbyterian Church- Newton Middle School Mission Team of 6 youth and 2 adults traveled to Raleigh, North Carolina the week of June 11-16th to participate in various types of ministries in the area. This is the 4th Middle School Mission Team that has been commissioned from this church for rising 6th –rising 9th graders. Raleigh Youth Mission (RYM) coordinated the mission immersion experience for the mission team. This year’s theme was “Creating Space”

During the mission trip, youth and adults worked with Church in the Woods, Shepherd’s Table, Ruth Sheets Adult Care Program, Loaves & Fishes, Family Promise, Moore Square, Healing Transitions and Interfaith Food Shuttle

Here is an inventory of what our mission team accomplished this week with First Presbyterian Church- Fayetteville:

  • Each person gave an average of 17 hours of service.

  • The total number of hours given by the student groups this week was 221 hours.

  • To accomplish what our group accomplished it would take one person working 8 hours a day for 5.5 weeks.

  • The living wage in Raleigh is $13.76 an hour. If an agency were to pay someone a living wage to complete this work it would have been $3,040.96.

  • Healthy Transitions (Men’s Rehabilitation in Raleigh) can provide one man services, lodging and food for $45 a day. If you were to donate the money we saved the organizations this week, it would provide 67 days of care & services at Healthy Transitions.
